I recently saw this on someone's facebook status. It took me a while to realize why it bothered me soo much. At face value, sure, no one likes hypocrites. People who pretend. But honestly, we're all guilty at one point or another. It's called being civilized. If you run into someone you dislike, do you tell them how you really feel and offend them? No. We should still be kind. Of course there's a fine balance. You can't pretend to want to be their best friend and xyz. And on the other hand u can't be completely rude! Just always be true to your word, and you will be okay.
Furthermore, it's better for someone to try to appear religious than openly flaunt their faults and sins. We are supposed to be ashamed of our sins and not expose them. Is this considered fronting? I'm not denying the existence of hypocrites, of course there are, but what about that person truly struggling?
And Allah is Ahkam ul Hakeemeen.

The strong...
Of Talut's men there were three.
Some drank thirstily from the river.
Some abstained completely.
The third, drank the amount allowed, and then abstained.
All were parched with thirst.
Who was the strongest?
In this life we are tempted by many things...some decide to avoid completely the things that try us. Others give in completely. The strongest...are always in control.
"[The soul] constantly flees from moderation in everything, and it inclines toward extremism in matters of both deviance and guidance." Ahmad al Zarruq found in Purification of the Heart
